The text I had selected was Nabokov's piece Gay . One section I found very significant was this selection:

“We will complain about our diets and how we're ignoring them and how we're going to have to make amends with ourselves when we return to those from whom we have stolen away. “

This texts reveals more of the hidden aspects of these two girls’ relationship. One being that they both may be married adding more pressure to them wanting to be together . Two these roles of being the perfect partner for your male counterpart ,for instance looking nice ,staying fit,etc.

Lets begin with the risks of this relationship.Assuming they are indeed both married to different men , not only are they committing adultery but it is also kinda sad . As far as adultery goes ,I have always found wrong to cheat on your significant other whether in marriage or strong relation to one another some form of trust was made between the two and it is wrong that it should be broken . However in situations like abuse I can understand why. And that may be the situation for both of them . But this story has such a sad and depressing element hiding within the text . Both women seem so desperate to be be with one another . So close  their very beings feel intertwined . I feel my morals or going against each other with supporting their relationship or from simply trying to comprehend the complexity of their situation. And I feel the same goes for them . Within their times of passion and deep intimacy, I am sound pessimistic , however I felt major moments of doubt on both sides.It truly is a hard pill to swallow .

Next is regarding how they still feel towards their male counterparts. It appears to me that both still care a little more about keeping a “womanly figure “ for their legal partners and less enjoying this singular and frowned upon moment with each other.It still uspeting how there is a guidelines put into to places forcing women to follow . I personally was never all too willing to follow such norms however the were instilled in me through other major female figures/role models throughout my life.

Overall , I think the text opens up another discussions of morals , and how they play out throughout the text. More specifically if you were forced to which would you choose :love or commitment. It also allows the reader to uncover a deeper meaning of their relationship. That being a fear they both share of being with each other . As well as an underlying doubt of what would happen if they did choose to continue on into this relationship.
